There is a misconception about creative people that they are souls lost in their world and are most of the time detached from the rest of the people. Another misconception is that the people in this digital era are not as creative as the people before this time. In fact, there can be no bigger myths than these two points. In reality, the scenario is completely opposite. Creative people are normal people and they are just like you and me, and digital era has seen its fair share of creative geniuses and more are evolving each day. However, if you find it difficult to tap into your inner creativity, here are 9 tips that will help you discover the creative artist inside you.

Create a Creative Circle

Surround yourself with other creative people. This tip may sound weird but it is very true. Create a circle with other people with different creative abilities and you will soon find yourself in the right kind of creative mode. There will be more ideas and more techniques to put those ideas into action. Some people may say that it is not innovative and it is simply picking up other people’s brains; well there is nothing wrong in that. It is not possible for an individual to singly discover all the creative avenues and learning from others is not a bad idea. Furthermore, this creative circle is not about copying each others’ ideas but mutually enhancing and boosting each others’ creative skills.

Daily Dose of Creativity

Give yourself a daily dose of creativity by creating something every day. Create something even if it is not good at all. Your creation does not have to be perfect. In fact, on some days, it may be totally crappy but still produce something each day. Do not give your creative powers a break even if what you may create may not match your standards. Instead of putting yourself in a stupor, it is better to keep exercising those skills of yours until you turn out a masterpiece. Remember the old proverb, “Try, try and try again” and still if you fail, then try something else but never stop.

Have Faith in Your Creative Self

One of the most basic and the simplest tip of creativity is to have faith in yourself. To add creativity to your life and to have others believe in your creative work, first of all you need to believe in yourself. It is the key to successfully open the doors that you have never opened before and create something daily believe that you can. Once you believe that you are creative and you can create masterpieces too, even though you may stumble and stagger through the climb, but it is possible. Just like any other creative mastermind, you can also do it – all you need is a little faith in yourself.

Build Up a Ritual of Creation

Another very useful tip is to set up or build up a ritual of creation buy shaping your habits. Shaping a habit of creativity is essential to lead a creative life. Set aside as little as half an hour every day at a set time and place and do something creative in that period. Do not deviate from the path. Stick to this ritual religiously. Even when you feel that you won’t be able to come up with a single word, line or a stroke or anything that you do, still don’t break the ritual. Obviously, you can choose a longer time period, but half an hour is the least you can do and it is the beginning that you need to go on. Once you follow this creative ritual devotedly, you will see an astounding difference as the time passes from weeks to months to years.

Real World Inspiration

Look at the world around you. It is full of ideas and inspiration. You can take inspiration from so many things around you. It can be anything from as simple as a bright early morning to specified industries. Observe various niches to come up with unique and innovative ideas. When it comes to profession, research the industries you are working with. See but do not copy what the competitors are doing. Find out the reason why some businesses are more dominant than the others and which business are the ones that align with your creative abilities. It is also important to observe the successful businesses outside your area of interest and experiment by adding the same elements to the improvement of your creative intellect.

When you keep your inspirational horizons open, the creativity will automatically come to you.

Be a Creativity Ninja

Want to get your creative juices flowing and create amazing new things? Well, for that you need to become a creativity ninja. So, how to become one? It’s very simple yet takes time to get used to but once you have adopted all the habits required for ninja creativity, you will excel at being one too. To begin with, declutter! Yes, declutter everything from your inbox to your mind and timetable. Once you learn how to declutter your life, focus on your inspiration. Don’t let your mind run in multiple directions. Select one muse and concentrate on it. Once you have mastered doing these steps, you will be able to find a new angle – a new aspect, even in the most mundane of things.

Don’t Wait for Brilliant Ideas

Give importance to the simplest of your ideas. You don’t need to wait for the brilliant ones or really extraordinary ones. You simply need to train your mind to take up a simple idea and make it extraordinary. There are many such examples around you. Take a look at the most successful advertising examples – most of them have a very simple concept behind it. McDonalds Happy Meal has a simple smile symbol to express the happiness it would bring to the kids – and now that simple symbol has become the face of happiness.

Take a Break – Do Something New

Put a stop to whatever you are doing and take a break. If you are a writer, stop writing anything for a few days (it is contradictory to tip number 2 but sometimes doing just the opposite works). Do something completely different. Learn to design, play with colors or anything else. This will break the monotony in your life and your brain will be rejuvenated. This will open up the way for more brilliant and unique ideas and boost up your creativity.

Change Your Attitude

Wake up the inner child in you. Change your attitude and approach creativity with a child’s wonderment. You will realize that having too many concrete ideas and rigid rules will only block your creativity. A child never thinks about what others may think about their creations while creating them. They simply paint, write or draw whatever they want to. Encourage this approach in yourself. Embrace and acknowledge your bad ideas along with the brilliant ones.
